Our trip to Hana with Mar was spectacular. Her knowledge of the local environment, current and historical Hawaiian culture, and secret spots along the way made the trip especially fun. The road to Hana is pretty, but the trip is far more meaningful with a superb guide like Mar.
A Road Day-Trip of a Lifetime on Maui, Hawaii
As the name suggests, this is not your typical Road to Hana tour. Unique Road to Hana takes you on a full-day adventure all the way around East Maui for an unforgettable trip. We usually head to the backside and go counter-clockwise to avoid the bulk of the crowds, but it’s up to you (and the weather)! We stop at all the highlights along the way and help you make the best of your Maui rainforest tour.

Highlights
What You'll Do
Depending on what you like to do, as well as the weather and road conditions, your guide will take you either clockwise or counterclockwise around East Maui. Either way, have your camera ready and be prepared to be wowed by the views!
We’ll have opportunities to walk through Maui’s beautiful rainforest or drylands, cool off with a swim at a waterfall, sample some of the delicious local cuisine, see some of the island’s spectacular coastline views, go through lava caves, and maybe even check out our resident sea turtles!
We won’t be able to see and do everything in one day, but we are always happy to customize your tour so it makes sense and you can see as much as possible in one day.
Please Note: We do not trespass nor visit spots that are kapu or notoriously dangerous, and where visitors are not welcome by the local community (yes, sadly that includes Kaihalulu, aka Red Sand Beach).
Note that the “backroad” is frequently undergoing construction and is closed to traffic. If we are not able to go all the way around, rest assured you’ll still have an amazing day with plenty of time to have fun!
See What Our Previous Guests Say
This was an amazing day! The drive out and back is so worth it! I highly recommend using this company. From the time I booked through the excursion everyone went above and beyond. Answering all my questions prior to making sure we got to see everything we wanted. Our guide was fantastic! I just can’t say enough how great this day was!
If you are going to take one excursion in Maui, let this be the one. Not only do you not have to drive some sketch roads yourself, but your guide will take to place you’d otherwise miss. Was worth every penny and will go down as one of our favorite days in Maui. Much mahalos!
Highlights included hiking the Pipiwai Trail through the bamboo forest to Waimoku Falls, visiting the black sand beach at Waiʻanapanapa State Park, and making several scenic stops. We also picked up some delicious local treats and enjoyed a great lunch. I highly recommend this tour!
My wife and I fully appreciated the Pipiwai Trail / Road to Hana Tour. We enjoyed full sun on our morning trail hike — 2 miles to the falls. The Bamboo Forest was enchanting and the waterfalls breathtaking. Plus stops to red and black sand beaches, and favorite food stops. Lance was an excellent guide — knowledgeable, conversational, un-rushed, attentive, and most of all, an excellent, experienced Road to Hana driver. My wife and I were thrilled to be relaxed passengers, rather than another statistic on the Divorce Highway 🙂
